Mid Monthly Advance

If you are facing hardship as a new entrant to the department, you can request an advancement of salary to help financially.

Who is it for?

New entrants to MOD, within the first six months of employment.

What do I get?

As a new entrant to the MOD, you may find that it is difficult to adjust to having your salary paid monthly, and may be suffering hardship as a result. With the Mid Monthly Advance of Salary, you can receive up to half of your salary as an advance, which will be paid at the mid-point of each month. The amount is then recovered from your salary at the end of that month. This allows you to receive your salary in two instalments each month, rather than as one payment at the end, while you adjust to being paid monthly.

Next Steps

  • 1

Ensure you are familiar with the Advances of Salary section of the Civilian-Pay-Details-and-Enquiries-Policy

  • 2
  • 3

Once your form has been received, the pay system will automatically calculate your entitlement, and pay the advance at the mid-point of each month.

Each advance will be recovered from your salary at the end of that month.
