Eligibility check:
What’s it for?
As a Service person, you may be deployed away from your normal place of work to assist the UK civil authorities (such as the police or fire service) for a temporary period.
When you are deployed in this way and you are given a break from duty, the cost of your journey back to your normal place of duty – or exceptionally your normal leave address - will be covered by the MOD.
What do I get?
If no Service transport is available, you’ll normally be given a rail ticket. If you’re travelling to your normal leave address then you can claim Motor Mileage Allowance.
When can’t I use this?
You won’t be able to claim this benefit if you claim any of the following benefits:
Home to Duty Travel
Operational Allowance
Get You Home
How do I claim?
If you have a Defence Gateway account you can claim this from your own personal device using the My Expenses app by following this link
You can also submit your claim via JPA iexpenses. More information can be found in the Claim for Motor Mileage Allowance user guide which can be found at JPA user guides.
If you don’t have access to JPA or a Defence Gateway account, then you need complete JPA Form F016 (which can be found at JPA forms) and submit it to your unit HR admin office.
