    What’s it for?

RP is designed to contribute towards your travel and accommodation costs when you want to take a break away from your permanent overseas station.

    What do I get?

You will receive a contribution towards the cost of travelling to the location where you are going to take respite and the accommodation costs when you’re there.  Each country has a set number of RP days and a capped monetary daily rate. The rates for each country can be found in JSP 752, Chapter 3, Section 1.

You can travel by air (economy class), car, rail (standard class), bus, coach or taxi. Accommodation can be either in a hotel, Bed and Breakfast, as part of a package deal or something similar.

You can now combine RP with Get You Home Overseas (GYH(O)). If you choose to do this, the RP entitlement can only be used for the accommodation element of your break from the LOA area, whilst the travel element will be contributed to by GYH(O).

    How do I claim?

Refunds of RP costs are claimed through JPA iexpenses. More information can be found in the allowances and expenses user guide, which can be found at JPA user guides. If possible you should submit your claim within 14 days of completion of the journey

If you don’t have access to the JPA on-line system, then complete JPA Form F016 (which can be found at at JPA forms) and submit it to your unit HR Admin staff for input onto JPA
