Final Tour of Duty

If you’re leaving the Service, get help in settling yourself and your family in a new area in the UK

    Am I eligible?

    This benefit is available to all Regular Service Personnel, including MPGS and Full Time Reservists (Full Commitment). You need to be:

    1. on your final tour of duty and serving in a location other than the one you expressed as a preference using JPA Form F024 which can be found here (MODNet access only);

    2. living in either Service provided accommodation with your family, or if single, be a householder/homeowner, or living in an alternative working address agreed with your chain of command; and

    3. due to receive either an immediate pension or an Early Department Payment when you retire.

    What’s it for?

    This is intended to cover the costs associated with moving home when you are due to leave the Service.

    What do I get ?

    You can claim:

    1. The applicable full Disturbance Expenses (DE) rate for a move to a Selected Place of Residence (SPR).

    2. Movement of Personal Effects (PE), from your Residence at Work Address (RWA), and/or store, to a SPR within 50 miles or 90 minutes travelling time of your area of preference.

    How do I claim?

  • 1

    You need to formally declare your preferred final tour of duty location using JPA Form F024 (which can be found here) before your final assignment has been decided by your Career Manager.

  • 2

    Information on how you then claim DE can be found here and MPE here (note: these will take you to the Army pages, but it is the same process for all three Services)
