Do you receive Standard Learning Credits?

    What’s it for?

The Standard Learning Credits (SLC) Scheme provides financial support throughout your career to enhance your educational and vocational achievements in service.

It allows for multiple, small-scale learning purposes and courses that have been approved by your Line Manager and Education Staff/Education Centre.

You can spend up to £175 per financial year while in Service or during your resettlement phase. If you are diagnosed with a Specific Learning Difference, you can use SLC towards specialist tuition and support. You can even use it to buy software if it is bought to specifically support your Specific Learning Difference.

The credit is not to be used for Service training, civilian-accredited Service training, professional bodies and institutes, course material, pure sport and Adventurous Training, battlefield tours, or the City & Guilds Professional Recognition Awards scheme.

    What do I get?

You may claim 80% of fees paid to learning providers for certain personal development courses, examinations and support, up to a maximum of £175 per financial year, but you must have permission to claim prior to the start of the course.

    When can’t I use this?

SLC may not be used simultaneously to fund elements of a course of study which is supported by Enhanced Learning Credit funding.

    How do I claim?
