Promotion beyond Able Rating for Ratings and Lieutenant for Officers within the Royal Navy is principally based on merit, with the skills and experience you develop during your career allowing you to demonstrate your ability to take on increasing responsibilities as your career progresses.
What do I get?
Everyone in the Royal Navy has a Career Manager and you are entitled to a formal career interview at various stages throughout your career. For individuals with access to MODNET or DII the Career Management Portal provides a ‘one-stop-shop’ for information regarding Career Management, including the Career Management Covenant, the most up-to-date branch specific information and contact details for your Career Manager.
There are opportunities to serve abroad, either unaccompanied or accompanied by your family, not just on deployment or operations. If you are interested speak to your Career Manager.
