Am I eligible?

Apprenticeships are available to the majority of Regular Service non-officer entrants as part of your initial trade training programme.  If there is not a suitable Apprenticeship another professional qualification will be offered to you.

What’s it for?

The Services offer nationally-recognised apprenticeships for most trades.  Your apprenticeship will be delivered alongside your military initial trade training course.  Over 95% of non-officer entrants complete an apprenticeship at Level 2(equivalent to 5 GCSEs), level 3 (equivalent to 2 ‘A’ levels) or level 4 (equivalent to a Foundation degree or the first year of a degree).  There is also an increasing range of  opportunities for higher-level apprenticeships as your career progresses.

What do I get?

Over 95% of Regular Service non-officer entrants complete a nationally-recognised apprenticeship that is valued both within and outside the Services. Apprenticeships are offered in many different areas including:

  • Public services and health

  • Engineering

  • Telecommunications

  • I.T.

  • Logistics

  • Business administration

The type of apprenticeship that you will do, will depend on your chosen role or trade.

You will be paid a competitive wage, not an apprenticeship salary, with a guaranteed job throughout and beyond your apprenticeship.

How do I apply?

On joining the Services, where appropriate for the trade you will be automatically enrolled on an apprenticeship as you progress through your trade training.  There is no individual application required.
