Food & Messing Allowances

    Subsistence Allowance

    If you are away from your duty station as part of your Service duties and need to pay for food or accommodation, you could use this allowance to cover, or contribute towards, the cost

    Living in self-catering facilities 3 miles or more away from your unit’s messing facilities? You may be able to claim a contribution towards the cost of your food and other daily expenses

    If you live in Single Living Accommodation or equivalent and you don’t have access to a Service mess or self-catering facilities, you could claim a contribution towards the extra cost of food and drinks
