If you’re on a permanent assignment in Northern Ireland and have to pay additional costs on your motor insurance as a result, you could be eligible for a refund

What’s it for?
This allowance provides a refund for any additional costs that you have to pay for your motor insurance premiums as a direct result of your service in Northern Ireland.
This allowance is not for Service personnel who have been locally recruited and are normally resident in Northern Ireland.
What do I get?
You’ll receive the actual difference in cost between insuring the same vehicle in the highest car insurance area in the UK (currently Central London) and insuring it in Northern Ireland.
This will be paid into your nominated bank account

Submit claim
Once you have paid your insurance (If you are paying in instalments you need to wait until the final instalment has been paid), log onto JPA via JPA iexpenses and submit your claim. More information can be found in the allowances and expenses user guide, which can be found at JPA user guides
If you don’t have access to JPA, then you need complete JPA Form F016 (which can be found at JPA forms) and submit it to your unit HR admin office
