A comprehensive support package covering Wellbeing, Personal Support and Community & Family Support

  • health and welfare
  • families

Am I eligible?

All Regular and Reserve personnel are eligible.

What’s it for?

Your welfare is important to us. That’s why the RAF provides a widely-recognised and accessible personal and community support structure that secures and improves the wellbeing and resilience of serving personnel and the Service community.

What do I get?

HR Personal Support staff coordinate the provision of personal support to members of the RAF and their families. This service is provided both in the UK and, as far as practically possible, overseas.

The RAF also has a contract with SSAFA to provide a free, confidential Personal Support And Social Work Service that’s responsive to the needs of Service people and their families and is also independent of the Chain of Command.

In addition Community and Family Support. is provided to individuals, groups and families throughout the military community. It includes amenities such as community centres and clubs, retail, leisure, educational, recreational and sporting activities, pre-school groups and youth activities and signposting to community-based activities

How do I use this?

If you feel unable to talk with your Chain of Command, you can ask your Unit HR Personal Support Staff, RAF HIVE Information Officer (HIO), Service Community Support Officer (SCSO) or other unit Community Support staff for advice on obtaining welfare support. You might also wish to approach the Station Medical Officer or Chaplain, dependent on circumstances.
